How do clouds move? What do they signify? What can they predict? Cloud Behavior explores the patterns of clouds, examining them as symbols of shifting weather and climate. Over several months, Nanna Debois Buhl photographed clouds on medium-format film and experimented with the images in the darkroom. The result is a series of cloud photographs that range from quiet registrations to dramatic, color-saturated images.

In 2024, 32 photographs from the Cloud Behavior series were installed in a spatial constellation at the Danish Embassy in London, an iconic modernist building designed by architect Arne Jacobsen. The cloud motifs were selected with the building’s color scheme in mind, and the installation was composed so that the work can be experienced at various heights and distances. As viewers move through the hallways, the spatial composition evokes a filmic sequence that expresses the diverse, transformative nature of clouds.
